Haulage Contractors
Our haulage fleet comprises an extensive part of our plant holdings. We have everything from, Low-Loaders, tippers, cement mixers, artics flatbeds, pretty much any truck you need, we have.
With rising operating costs affecting the haulage sector, we realise that versatility is key to success. To that end many of our new vehicles come with demountable bodies which allow them to quickly swap between a tipper, cement mixer, skip or rock box body as and when the requirements arise.
Tipper Trucks
Servicing the Groups quarries are a large fleet of tipper trucks based between our operating centres at Arbroath and Markle. Most of our quarry tippers have lightweight, high-sided boxes to maximise their payload and all our vehicles are fitted with automatic sheeting systems.
The bulk of our Tipper Fleet is normally utilised in delivering from our quarries or working onsite on one of our demolition or earthworking contracts, however all our vehicles are available for hire and we can utilise our extensive network of sub-contract hauliers to fulfill our delivery requirements.
We also have more robust steel bodied vehicles with 'barn door' back doors that are more suited to site clearances involving broken concrete or transporting rock armour.
Special Types Low Loaders
We operate a number of Special Types Low-loader vehicles with a number of different styles of low loader trailers up to STGO Category 3 (250 tonnes!). These vehicle are normally used to move our own plant but are available for hire to move anything our customers require. Given the nature of these specialised loads, these vehicles will collect and deliver nationwide.
Tipping Trailers
![]()
Articulated tipping trailers have, in the past, gained a reputation as being unsuitable for site tipping given the inherent instability when tipping on uneven surfaces. Geddes Group have addressed this by replacing our 'bulker' tipping trailers for more up-to-date aggregate tippers. These trailers have a number of features to increase stability and safety; a wider, shorter wheelbase, a rounded floor specially lined to prevent material sticking. Inclinometers are fitted to prevent tipping at unsafe angles.
The benefits of the increased payload and versatility of these vehicles allow us to create a vastly more efficient and cost effective delivery service from our quarries. Sites that recognise these benefits can potentially take advantage of reduced delivery rates and increased rate of supply of materials.
